about

An excerpt of a live performance broadcast from a converted shoe store in New York, May 2008, over the airwaves of Neighborhood Public Radio during their inclusion in the Whitney Biennial: an all-too-rare collaboration with the Toronto Recordists, in all their splendour.

This section of the hour-long broadcast was, ironically, the "not-live" portion of the proceedings: this was a stacked exquisite corpse of all three participants, where our individual pre-arranged, pre-recorded parts (which we had not previewed for each other) were stacked unceremoniously atop one another and played through. The result surprised us as much as it did the audience, if not more so. Probably more so.

The Scharpen portion of this corpse was later re-worked somewhat to become the track "When A King Dies..." for the cd "Oar of Panmuphle" (thomascarnacki.bandcamp.com/album/oar-of-panmuphle)
